Product Care

How to use, care for, and store your items to ensure they last for years to come.

First, A Note about Fading

Like most things, pyrography and prints are subject to fading when exposed to UV light.
To protect your art, please avoid letting your piece sit or hang in direct sunlight for long durations.

Food-Safe Wood Items

Spoons, Cutting boards, Measuring Cups, etc…

Your food-safe kitchen utensils and wares come to you pre-conditioned with my own beeswax wood conditioner. Conditioning is very important for your food-safe item as it protects it against moisture, staining*, fading, and over-drying.

Please only HAND WASH your item and re-apply wood conditioner or a food-safe oil** of your choice when dry.

Notes:
* Even with conditioning, it is advised to avoid high-staining foods, such as tomato sauces, berry juices, and turmeric.
** Mineral, Olive, and Walnut oils all work well.

Decorative Pyrography Pieces

Wall Plaques, Ornaments, Boxes, Jewelry, etc…

Your decorative pyrography art is most likely finished with a water resistant and UV protective finish. However it is always best to keep these pieces inside and out of direct sunlight or areas with high humidity.

Wipe clean with a damp cloth, being mindful of live-edge pieces. Live edge bark can be dusted with a soft brush or vacuumed using a brush attachment.

Prints: Paper, Canvas, & Wood

All prints should be protected from moisture and extensive direct sunlight, as these two elements can cause wrinkling, warping, and/or fading.

All of my paper prints are professionally printed giclee prints created with professional artist-grade paper and archival, fade-resistant inks. Protect your paper prints in a frame with acid-free matting and backing.

Canvas prints are available as either mounted (ready to hang upon arrival), or unmounted. Unmounted canvas prints can be framed or hung with a poster hanger.

Wood prints are created by printing the images of my original work onto sustainably obtained wood using one of two very durable printing methods (vinyl transfer or dye sublimation), resulting in a product that both looks and feels very similar to the original piece. Wood prints require no framing or additional protection, but as above should be protected from excessive moisture and sunlight.

Ceramic Tiles

These professionally printed ceramic tiles not only make great magnets, trivets, coasters, and ready to hang decor, but they can also be incorporated into your home tile project from backspashes to showers and even flooring.

Tiles are available in two finishes: Gloss or Matte. Gloss Finish creates a beautiful, rich reproduction of my art with bold colors and sharp details. Matte finish is more resistant to abrasion and has a soft, muted feel similar to the original wood piece.

These tiles are very durable and can even be used outdoors. If installing as tile, it is advised to mask off the face of the tile and use an unhanded grout, as these tiles can still be scratched by sharp or abrasive items. Clean tiles with a soft, non abrasive cloth and cleaner.
